Privacy

The short version

We collect your name, email, postcode and address so we know where the van should go and how to tell you when it's coming. We count households by postcode to work out which streets to serve. We don't sell your details, we don't run advertising trackers, and we only email you about pizza if you asked us to. You can have everything deleted by emailing us.

The rest of this page is the same thing said properly.

Who we are

Postcode Pizza is a trading name of Glass Hammer Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 14672595. We are the data controller for the information described on this page, which means we decide what is collected and what happens to it.

What we collect, and why

When you add your household to a street count, we store exactly this:

Name

So we know who to greet at the door and who to address emails to. Only a first name is required.

Email address

To tell you when your street unlocks, confirm orders, and — only if you tick the box — send offers and news.

Postcode

The heart of it. We count how many households in a postcode want a van, and a street gets a weekly pitch once enough do.

Address, and its coordinates

So the van can find you and we can sequence a street efficiently. We store the address you pick, its Google place identifier and its latitude and longitude.

Which nights could work, and when you eat

To schedule a round that suits the street rather than one that suits us.

Whether you agreed to marketing, and when

We record the moment you consented, because we have to be able to show that you did.

Which page you signed up from, and any referral code

To understand which streets are spreading by word of mouth, and to credit a neighbour who brought you in.

That is the whole list. We do not ask for your phone number, your date of birth, or anything about your household beyond when it likes to eat. We never collect payment details at signup.

Our legal basis

Under UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for holding your information. We rely on two:

• Legitimate interests — for running the street count and operating the round. You gave us your details in order to get a pizza van on your street, and using them for exactly that is what you'd reasonably expect.
• Consent — for marketing email. That is the tick box on the signup form, it is never pre-ticked, and you can withdraw it at any time without affecting anything else.

How long we keep it

If your street unlocks and you order from us, we keep your details for as long as you're a customer, and for 24 months afterwards.

If your street never reaches the fifty households it needs, we keep your details for 24 months and then delete them. We'll email you before we do.

Who else sees it

We don't sell your data and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing. A small number of services necessarily see some of it in order to make the site work:

Google (Places & Maps)

When you type an address on the signup form, what you type is sent to Google to return suggestions. Google receives your search text and your IP address. Governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Postcodes.io

We look your postcode up to identify the area and its coordinates. The postcode and your IP address are sent to this service.

Google Fonts

Typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, which receives your IP address on every page view.

Simple Icons

The share screen loads the WhatsApp, Facebook, X and Instagram logos from this service, which receives your IP address. Your QR code is drawn on our own servers, so your share link is not sent anywhere.

Hetzner

Our hosting provider. The database behind this site is stored on their servers in Berlin, Germany.

Resend

Sends the emails we send you, and can see your name and email address in order to deliver them.

Some of this means your information leaves the UK. Our database is held in Germany, which the UK recognises as providing an equivalent standard of protection. Google and Resend may process data in the United States; where that happens it is covered by the UK's approved safeguards for international transfers. Your rights over your data are the same either way.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers or pixels. There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to. The third-party services listed above set their own cookies when their content loads; the Google address lookup only loads once you reach the address step, not on arrival.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within one month.

To stop marketing email, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send, or email us. It takes effect immediately and doesn't remove you from your street's count unless you ask us to.

If you think we've handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is for adults ordering food for a household. We don't knowingly collect information about anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we'll update this page and, where the change is significant, email you about it.
